Qualifications

• A trained teacher with a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree. A Masters
Degree in Educational Administration/Educational Supervision would
be an asset.
• At least ten (10) years teaching experience.
• A minimum of three (3) years experience working in a supervisory
position in an educational institution.
• The ideal candidate must be a transformational leader.
• The candidate must be computer literate.
• Must have experience in timetabling and curriculum planning.
• Must have good team building and interpersonal skills.
• Should be success oriented and have an enthusiasm for personal
development.

Description

Provide effective management and leadership to the school within the
framework of the strategic focus of the Ministry of Education and
Board of Management.
• Foster and maintain a strong relationship with internal and external
stakeholders and allied institutions.
• Manage, supervise and motivate teachers and support staff to
maximize their contribution to the school community.
• Generate a vision of improving and sustaining the school to excellence.

Qualifications
• Trained teacher possessing Bachelors Degree with emphasis on
education (from a recognized university)
• Masters Degree in Educational Management and Leadership or
related studies.
• National College for Educational Leadership (NCEL)- Effective
Principal Training.
• Minimum of five (5) years experience and a proven track record of
Senior Leadership in a Secondary School.
Competencies
• Working knowledge of the Education Regulation, the Education and
FAA Acts as it pertains to the Management of Public Educational
Institutions.
• Procurement Guidelines and Financial Management Skills.
• Working knowledge of the Jamaica Labour Laws and Industrial
Relation Practices.
• Have strong knowledge of and competencies in Curriculum
Development and Assessment Methods.
• Have proven experience in Leadership, Human Resource
Development and Management.
• Skills in strategic planning, policy formulation, project management &
implementation.
• Possess excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational
skills.

• Working knowledge of Ministry of Finance Regulations as it pertains
to the Management of Public Educational Institutions, knowledge of
FAA Act, Government Procedures, Policies and Procurement
Guidelines and Financial Management Skills.
• Working knowledge of the Jamaica Labour Laws and Industrial
Relation Practices.
• Strong Leadership and Management aptitude.
• Proven ability to Curriculum Development.
• Professional who keeps abreast of pedagogical and technological
trends.
